The No Surprises Act
The No Surprises Act is a federal law designed to protect people from unexpected medical bills, especially when they see out-of-network providers. While it mainly applies to insurance plans, it also helps clarify costs and give more transparency—even if you’re paying out-of-pocket.

Here’s how it works for self-pay clients:

-
Clear Pricing Upfront: You have the right to know the cost of your care before your appointment. This means you’ll be given a clear, written estimate of your session fees so there are no hidden surprises--before you book your first session.
-
No Unexpected Charges: The Act ensures you won’t be billed for extra fees you weren’t told about in advance. If additional services are needed, you’ll be notified first.
-
Easier Planning: Knowing your costs ahead of time makes it easier to budget for your therapy sessions and choose the services that work best for you.
-
For self-pay clients, the No Surprises Act gives you transparency and protection, so you can focus on your healing without worrying about hidden or unexpected bills.
Paying for therapy doesn’t have to be stressful. Whether you’re using insurance or paying out of pocket, you’ll know costs upfront, understand your options, and won’t run into any surprise bills. That way, you can keep your focus on healing—and feel confident and supported every step of the way.
